3dscan Help

3D scan of mannequin head (Dragos Harabor, 1997)

  • NOTE: THE PROJECTOR'S CONTROLLER BOARD SHOULD ALWAYS BE IN PARK WHEN SWITHCHED ON AND OFF. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANS!
  • Log onto DAGUERRE. The projector should be OFF and the swtich on the controller board in PARK. Turn on the projector. Wait for it to warm up and switch to RUN.
  • Start 3dscan. You will be prompted to select the resolution of the projector.
  • Next you will have to choose a name for the scan you are going to perform. Before saving create a new directory for your scan by clicking the right mouse button in the desired location. Each scan should be in its own directory. 3dscan will save a 3dp file for you, and a directory with images for each view of the scan, named with the following scheme: "view #" + "gray code level" + "n | p" +".ras". "n" stands for negative, "p" for positive. The level 0 images are for the full black and full white images. Currently, levels go from 1 to 10.
  • When the white screen comes up you can start your scan. All the commands are in a popup menu you can access by right clicking inside the window.
  • Save calibration images. The squares in the projector calibration pattern are 10x10 pixels, and the circle is in the center of the screen.
  • Scan any number of views.
  • As soon as you are done scanning switch the projector to PARK and turn it OFF.
  • Save and exit.
