EE/CNS 148, CS274c:
volcarve help

Volcarve output

  • Log onto sgi.ugcs
  • add /ug/space/3dp/tools/bin to your path
  • run:   volcarve -in <3dpfile>. The <3dpfile> is the same file used for 3dpalign.
  • The ? button in the upper left hand corner will pop-up a help dialog.  To generate and view a finished surface, press P.Use the D button to edit display options.
  • Remove unwanted voxels using the connected component finder (K) and the cutting plane (C).  Refine the mesh further with (R) .  Repeat until mesh is clean.  If you make a mistake, (U) is a one-step undo.
  • To save a volume for future editing use (S).
  • Once the mesh has been cleaned, run volcarve in non-interactive mode to refine even further: volcarve -in <3dpfile> -invol <volume_name> -nodisplay -refinesteps <1 or 2>
  • Now you can generate that mesh you've always dreamed of: vtk /ug/space/3dp/tools/marchC.tcl. This will generate a file called volume.iv in the current directory.  Be careful to remove the files named mcubes.bin mcubes.limits and signedD.volume- they're quota busters.
